NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, an affiliate of the Weill Cornell Medical College and a member of the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System, is a 651-bed voluntary acute care teaching hospital with over 40,000 annual admissions. As the largest medical department of an urban institution, with patients drawn from every neighborhood in Brooklyn, we are able to offer the young physician an excellent internal medicine-focused training program with fine clinical practice opportunities. In addition to the program director, our a team of experts who lead the residency program includes a deputy program director and two associate program directors to mentor and serve the needs of our residents.
We also have numerous fellowship training opportunities in internal medicine subspecialties. New York Methodist provides residents in internal medicine with a breadth of clinical experience that will prepare them to practice medicine in any setting. Peterson, M.D., M.A.C.P., F.A.H.A. Chairman of Internal Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital Harvey Dosik, M.D. Chairman Emeritus Program Director of Internal Medicine Residency Program Professor of Medicine Weill Cornell Medical College. Peterson, M.D., M.A.C.P., F.A.H.A, became chair of internal medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in 2013. He was previously professor of medicine, pharmacology and clinical public health as well as executive vice chairman of medicine at New York Medical College.
He was also director of the Internal Medicine Section at Westchester Medical Center. Peterson, who is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine was governor of the Hudson Valley Region of the American College of Physicians (ACP) from 2004 to 2008 and has held several other positions with the national organization. He was elected to Mastership in 2009. Harvey Dosik, M.D., M.A.C.P., was chair of medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital from 1995 until 2013. Previously, he was chairman and program director of internal medicine at Interfaith Medical Center. Dosik specializes in the areas of hematology/oncology and pediatric hematology/oncology and is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both internal medicine and hematology. He has led a dedicated and distinguished academic career.
